Around 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Impact
Homeowners reported large ice chunks measuring up to seven centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing power throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the widespread outages.

Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing storm activity predicted across different parts of both regions.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
